Preserving history

At Pann Mill, safety is our top priority, but we also recognise the importance of preserving history. Our restoration project is dedicated to keeping this historic water mill running for future generations to enjoy. Click here to learn more about our restoration efforts and how you can get involved.

Mill Open Days

Join us for our free mill open days to experience the history and beauty of Pann Mill first-hand. You'll get a chance to see the mill in action (water levels in the River Wye permitting), learn about the history of the site, and participate in fun activities for the whole family.  We hope to be able to open again as usual during 2025.

How to find us

The mill is located on the A40 London Road, at the Eastern end of the town of High Wycombe.  It is about 1 mile from Handy Cross and the M40 junction 4.  The mill postcode is HP11 1BJ but if you put it in your sat-nav you will arrive close to the car park on the opposite side of the A40.  The mill is just visible through the trees in Google StreetView.

Visiting by car

From the M40 junction 4 or from the A404 (M4) from Maidenhead or Marlow, pass Handy Cross Roundabout following signs for the A404 towards High Wycombe and Amersham. At the bottom of Marlow Hill, turn right onto the A40 towards Beaconsfield and London. Continue past two sets of traffic lights and then turn left into the car park immediately after the gentle bend. Pann Mill is across the road opposite the car park.

There are various options for parking near the mill. The nearest large car park is directly across the road from the mill, where parking charges apply. Parking charges on a Sunday are £1.20 all day. Please note that payment can only be made by card or phone, as the machines no longer accept cash.

Visiting by public transport

By train: High Wycombe train station, serviced by Chiltern Railways, is a 5 minute walk to the mill.

By bus: The route is well serviced with regular buses running along the A40. There is a bus stop close to the mill running East. Alternatively, buses stop in the Town Centre or at the Eden Centre bus station, around a 10 minute walk from the mill.

Accessibility

Access for those with limited mobility is available to the ground floor of the mill only. We are working to install a video link on the upper floor to show you what is going on up there during our open days.

Illustrated talks

We can offer illustrated talks for schools and groups to learn about the history of the mill and the importance of preserving our heritage, as well as to local groups or organisations upon request. Our programs are tailored to different age groups and can be customised to fit your group's needs. The actual milling will not be possible during these times as it is only operational during our open mill days.
